Last Flight to Bethells

As many of you will already know, our test shoot at Bethells on Saturday was a big success! While we ran into a few technical hitches, we quickly established potential issues - and solutions - and everyone had a good time.

The footage we took looks awesome - and we'll examine it now for problems related to re-colouring the sky and integrating it with the studio shots we will need to do.

A big thanks to everyone for putting in such a great effort, and for being so enthusiastic - particularly Lisa who stood in as our astronaut on the day, enduring a claustrophobic costume and high temperatures!

All up it was a great start to our adventure!

Baby astronaut on the way...

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Jo Lees, actor-extraordinaire on Last Flight since its inception. She's pregnant! YAAY!

That also means we're looking for a new actor! Jo is quickly out-growing the costume, and for safety reasons she needs to bow out of the role of Astronaut.

There will be some disruption to our scheduling, while we factor in the audition process, so please do bear with us over the next week or so while we take a hard look at our plan for the next couple of months. We're so sorry if we cause you any problems - but have faith and stick with us, this film is going to be awesome.

We're still on for the practice run this Saturday, to those of you on the crew, and Lisa Waldner will be standing in as our warm body in the Astronaut's shoes during the day.

Thanks so much to Jo for all her hard work on this project, and good luck on her own mission!

Tongariro scout

This weekend, Sarah, Lance and I will be visiting Tongariro to choose the spots we will be filming the majority of Last Flight.

Immediately following that we will be able to finalize the shot list and get a proper schedule out to everyone. Sorry it's taken so long, but until we were certain about what shots we were doing where, it has been impossible to be sure about dates and times.

The other main dates that are fast approaching are:
A full crew dress-rehearsal of equipment and procedures out at Bethells on the 24th (or 25th, weather dependent)
The start of shooting at Tongariro on Feb 6th, 7th and 8th.

The upshot is that preproduction is finally, nearly over - - and production is about to begin! Wahoo!

And by the way, a belated happy new year to everyone!
