Made up and worn out!

Jo was given a bit of a Martian once-over by Chev, make up artist and trainer (currently working on Ironman 2) last night. Meghan, Sarah, Kiri and Damon were given a demonstration in how to hollow out Jo's face and eyes, and crack her lips and skin. Jo wasn't too happy with the result - but everyone else thought she looked fantastic!

If you are going to be re-colouring the grey dirt of Tongariro to red-brown in post production, then the face make-up should be complimentary to that effect. Otherwise you'd risk making her face look too red. Perhaps very pale and slightly blue hued. That way the red filter puts the colour back into her cheeks. Perhaps she should be blue tinged anyway due to lack of oxygen and cold.

Yeah true that, David. I'm going to recolour some of the shots we took and see how they look. We'll also do some video tests over the next month to see how the filtering looks on the suit and Jo's face, among other things... Re the cold, I'm unsure about the best way to go. Any bluing up may well be lost once we add the filter!

good god. don't forget, my one nod to diva-ism is that all ladies on set must also backcomb their bloody eyebrows!
